If you’re on a mission, building a vision, or carrying a calling that feels bigger than you, the temptation is always the same: cut corners on your sleep. Stay up late. Wake up early. Push harder. Get more done.

But the truth is the opposite. If you’re a visionary, if you’re carrying a mission in your heart, you need more sleep, not less. Eight to nine hours of deep rest isn’t indulgent. It’s how you gain more time. But in creative spurts you might require less sleep or enjoy naps. Inside the Sanctuary though I get more into times of night and morning most ideal to capture the natural energy of the day so you wake up and task during those times.

The Paradox of Sleep and Time

Most people think: “If I sleep less, I’ll have more time to work.” But what really happens?

  • With less sleep, your focus scatters.
  • You make more mistakes that take longer to fix.
  • Your body feels heavy and your mind foggy.
  • You spend twice as long doing half the work.

On the other hand, when you give yourself 8–9 hours of restorative rest:

  • You wake up clear, energized, decisive.
  • You create faster because inspiration flows.
  • You solve problems with ease instead of pushing through resistance.
  • You gain hours back in efficiency, clarity, and flow.

It’s the paradox that sleeping more actually gives you more time.
